The Anti-cold Soup

This soup gets me safely through November to March. It’s full of immune-supportive spices and veggies and really simple to make (even when you’ve been living in pjs for two days, may or may not be running a fever, and still can’t breathe properly).

You can’t underestimate the power of a warmth-inducing meal and the heating property of the spices in the soup bring nutrients into your body quickly.

Here’s my recipe, but feel free to improvise!

  • 4-5 cups water
  • 1 bunch kale, chopped
  • 1 large piece ginger, chopped into thin rounds
  • 3 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 2 tsps each of cumin and turmeric
  • 1 tsp sea salt

Add sliced Bell peppers for extra vit C (or really any other veggies because Why not?). And sliced organic chicken or—even better—chicken bones, add immune-enhancing benefit so feel free to toss in your leftovers!

  • Bring water to a boil
  • Add ginger and simmer for 15 minutes
  • Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 5 minutes, adding extra water depending on your preference
